We welcome Avanti Communications to the West African Internet Exchange. Avanti is our third peer following Cloudflare and MainOne within a month of launching WAF-IX.
Avanti’s satellite technology delivers always-on, fast consumer broadband adopting the latest Ka-band satellite technology to reach West and Central Africa, delivering high-speed broadband for home-users, SMEs, schools, healthcare institutions, enterprises, governments and cellular backhaul for 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks. The Avanti network further provides 100% in-country coverage, ensuring no one is beyond reach, no matter how remote they are.
Avanti launched its gateway earth station earlier this year at MDXi. This decision was made based on MDXi’s capability to deliver mission-critical data centre services and provide extensive interconnection with other operators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Internet Exchanges.
The addition of Avanti increases the potential number of West African eyeballs reachable via the WAF-IX. More peers to come in a few weeks.
